Book Review: The Trees Have Hearts

My paperback copy of The Trees Have Hearts was an accidental order at Amazon, as I rarely order books for children. This one did catch my eye with it’s colorful cover. Anytime the topic includes our environment and how to love our mother earth, I get excited. After receiving my book in the mail, opening it and reading it, I soon realized it was no mistake to buy this book. This is a story to share and to pass down. It is a powerful message to carry with us always. Nature will nurture and love us if we return the favor.

Excerpt

“I dont take any chances when it comes to caterpillars either.” The weeping cherry tree scarily rustled her narrow green leaves. Shadow watched carefully for the unwelcome intruders. The playful girl jumped on the ground and, running from tree to tree, scared all the bugs away, except for the beees. She was afraid of bees.
“Don’t worry about the bees; they help fertilize my flowers.” The plum tree opened her purple flowers for bees to land. Tired, the little girl hid inside Shadow’s home. She told the two sisters a story about her old country and the friends she left behind. The garden trees heard from the Old Wind how beautiful her native country was. The weeping cherry tree moved her branches closer and hugged the sad girl.
